This walk starts outsisde 439 New Crosss Road and terminates at the river steps at Watergate Street, Deptford. Duration 1 hour, 10 minutes. Starting with the 1981 New Cross Fire we journey back through time to 16th century Deptford waterfront and the beginnings of Britain's connections to the slave trade.
New Cross Fire - Deptford race riots of 1948 - Black people in 18th century Deptford - St Paul's church and the 'Black Poor' - 18th century Black dockers in Deptford - St Paul's church and St Nicholas' - Watergate Street.
All tours are priced at £8 per adult and £5 for under 18s.
